Happy New Year
The new year is upon us,
Reflection’s in my heart.
With gratitude for blessings,
Let’s toast to a new start.
May we leave an enemy,
Behind us, in this year.
May we find forgiveness,
Keeping loved ones near.
Let us pray for families,
Our government, and peace.
Knowing war will always be,
And contention will not cease.
May we enter this new year,
With softened hearts anew.
In knowledge there is benefit,
In loving things, we do.
Regret and guilt are poison,
That damages our soul.
We must release the past,
Moving forward is life’s goal.
No matter what is done to us,
May we still be kind.
For a better world tomorrow,
Is in grudges left behind.
Regardless of our day,
May we smile bright.
For happiness will spread,
Through each person’s light.
Despite frustrating downfalls,
May we still find hope.
Understanding we must balance,
Ourselves on life’s tightrope.
Let us raise our glass,
To a new book we will write.
Three hundred sixty-five pages,
Of blank paper that is white.
No matter what you’re toasting,
Champagne, juice, or beer.
Solute peace and positivity,
In this coming year.
All my love,
~Kat
