See “Abled” not “Disabled”

Updated: Sep 25, 2019

Don’t hear me stammer,

Hear me speak.

The chair I sit in,

Doesn’t make me weak.

Don’t see me struggle,

See me try.

We all have moments,

When we cry.

Don’t label me,

To be dismissed.

I’m a person,

To be missed.

You think my road,

Is all uphill.

You don’t know,

Of my strong will.

I’m not behind,

At my slow pace.

It’s slow and steady,

That wins the race.

I grow and learn,

Like you each day.

I feel frustration,

I laugh and play.

Things you see,

Do not define.

To reach my goals,

There’s no deadline.

I am strength,

Endless potential.

Where I will go,

Is exponential.

For I,

Am abled.

Not,

Disabled.

All my love,

~Kat
